The First Great Lesson

Today, we had our Montessori First Great Lesson, 
The Beginning of the Universe and Earth.
The students were very engaged in 
the story and the presentations
such as the Great Bang, the creation of stars, solar system,
matter on earth and volcanos.

 

Ask your child what they learned and what was most interesting to them.
Next week, we will begin the Second Great Lesson,
Life Comes to Earth.

Such a fun last day for me with the class! We had a fun flashlight party with our new little books, David's Father by Robert Munsch . Story Writing

Today we finished our first story! We began with brainstorming characters and settings and descriptive words for both. We came up with ideas for either a lost story or a stuck story. We thought of 3 ways our character  could try to solve the problem, finally solving it on the third try! Then we came up with interesting ways to end our story such as the character's feelings, a lesson learned or a reflection. We are very proud of our hard work and look forward to sharing our stories at conferences with you in March!
