Such a fun last day for me with the class! We had a fun flashlight party with our new little books, David's Father by Robert Munsch . And most fun of all, the gerbils got to explore their amusement park we built them. Some videos and photos are below! I hope the students had as much fun as I did today. Wishing everyone a wonderful break and  see you in the new year! Love, Ms. McCullough

Last day with Ms. McCullough before Break

Tomorrow is the last day with  Ms. McCullough before the break. I am asking for all children to bring in a flashlight  for a little flashlight reading time in the afternoon. Also, today children may have something in their blue folder that they would like to keep a surprise from their family. Please remind your child to put  what's in their folder in a hiding spot. Thank you!

Winter Break Book Return

Winter Break Book Return This year we are asking that all student library books be returned to the library by Monday, December 16 th . We are hoping that having all the books come back before the break, will help to assure there are less books that get lost. The library will still be open Mon – Wed next week for students to come and enjoy some reading time, but there will not be any book exchange.  Our library day is this Friday, December 13th, if you can please ensure your child brings their library books back. Thank you for your support with this!

The Invisible String

Thank you to one of our friends who brought  in a lovely book, "The Invisible String". It is a beautiful book about how we are all connected to  the people we love no matter how far away they are. Many of our friends had family and loved  one living all across the world that their hearts were connected to and even some in heaven or who had passed away. Here are some of our drawing showing our invisible string.

Word Collector

Image
"Reach for your own words.  Tell the world who you are and how you will make it better!" -Peter Hamilton Reynolds Today, we read the book "The Word Collector". This is a beautiful book about a boy who collects  words - words that sound neat, words that are meaningful, words he loves to hear, action words and many other kinds. He then spreads his words from the top of  a high hill for all the children to collect and enjoy. We shared our favourite words too. Some words students came up with were  peace, thank you, fantastic, dad, powerful, jelly molasses, super and many, many more. Students shared words from their home language and the meanings in English.  It was lovely to hear  other languages and to learn about how many  languages are spoken in our classroom. If your child speaks another language at home, you may want to help them write on a post it or small piece of paper a favourite word from their language and we
