Weird Wednesday


Today was a busy day with Music and Gym.

Talk to your child about the exciting things happening in their reading groups. 

In Social Studies we read "When I grow up" by Julie Chen and "When I grow up" by Andrew Daddo.  We had an interesting discussion around "What can my future self do that I can't do now?"  It was a very entertaining conversation.  Try to ask your child what some of their ideas were.  

 In Math we finished up our patterning stations and continued to explore labelling our patterns as well as identifying the core.  

Informational Items

- Please make sure you submit your Scholastic orders by the end of the week.
- Please don't forget to do Home Reading.  Please remind your child to return and change their books.
- Reminder that there is no school on Friday October 11 and Monday October 14th
- Spirit Day - Plenty of Patterns Day on Wed Oct 16th
- If your child is in the Bucket Drumming club, they will be performing at the assembly on Monday
  October 21

Such a fun last day for me with the class! We had a fun flashlight party with our new little books, David's Father by Robert Munsch . Story Writing

Today we finished our first story! We began with brainstorming characters and settings and descriptive words for both. We came up with ideas for either a lost story or a stuck story. We thought of 3 ways our character  could try to solve the problem, finally solving it on the third try! Then we came up with interesting ways to end our story such as the character's feelings, a lesson learned or a reflection. We are very proud of our hard work and look forward to sharing our stories at conferences with you in March!
